Art journals have always been something I have wanted to venture into, but each time I would start I didn't give it a good college try and ended up ripping out the first pages of the book I have worked on. I have decided to just dive in and go for it. Start and see where it takes you, it does not need to be perfect but just you. So that's what I decided to go ahead and give a try to. I am not going to limit it to just paint and paper maybe sewing in the journal, mixed media, etc. One of the people that inspire me most to get into art journals is the artist Teesha Moore. Her artwork is colorful, inspiring and just makes you want to sit down and journal for hours.
Also as a preventive measure I started my journal in the very middle to make sure I embrace my faults and NOT TO RIP OUT THE PAGE!
I also save scraps of colored paper and scrapbook paper, and whenever I am done with magazines I go through the pages and try and cut interesting things out and store them in envelopes, folders, or in this case a metal cookie tin... I'm not picky as you can tell.
I used old postcards, magazines, newspaper, just bits of everything until I thought it looked write before I added the pieces towards the center.
And here is the semi- finished product, I wrote in it but I am probably going to go back in and stylize my writing a bit. I want to make more time for exploring new mediums... never seem like we have enough time!
